OMSC Experiences · Founder Curated · Concept Itinerary
City life, coastal roads, the Red Centre and a tropical finale. One Australian journey, with room to enjoy each place.
01 · Journey concept
A considered route, at your pace.
Melbourne → Great Ocean Road → Sydney → Blue Mountains → Uluru & Kata Tjuta → Port Douglas
Fly between distant regions and drive only the local road-trip sections. Dedicated overnight stops separate long drives from flights; six Port Douglas nights provide space for rest and a reef weather window.
This is a founder-curated starting point, not a personally tested route or a fixed package. Hotels, transport and experiences are suggestions until checked and quoted for your dates. No reservations or availability are implied.

02 · Your days
Explore, then leave space.
Open each day for its suggested plan and practical notes. Experiences are optional unless agreed in your final proposal.
Day 1 · Arrive gently
Overnight · Melbourne
Settle into your hotel and keep the first afternoon open. If you feel rested, take a short riverside walk and find an easy dinner nearby.
Plan around: Use an airport transfer or public transport; collect the road-trip car later.
Day 2 · Laneways, art & city life
Overnight · Melbourne
Explore central laneways over breakfast, then choose the National Gallery of Victoria or an architecture walk. Leave the evening for a restaurant that fits your taste and budget.
Plan around: Reserve any guided visit or sought-after restaurant once dates are known.
Day 3 · A day at your own pace
Overnight · Melbourne
Choose a neighbourhood such as Fitzroy for independent shops and cafés, or spend more time with art and gardens. An optional food experience can replace, rather than crowd, the afternoon.
Plan around: Keep this day flexible for arrival recovery or poor weather.
Day 4 · Onto the Great Ocean Road
Overnight · Apollo Bay
Collect the rental car and follow the coast towards Apollo Bay, allowing time for a few viewpoints and a proper lunch stop. Arrive before dark and enjoy a quiet coastal evening.
Plan around: Allow a full sightseeing day. Check road conditions and avoid packing every coastal stop into the drive.
Day 5 · Otways & the coast
Overnight · Apollo Bay
Choose a suitable rainforest walk in the Otways, then return to the coast for a relaxed afternoon. Keep time for a café, a beach walk or simply the view.
Plan around: Walks depend on access and conditions; wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
Day 6 · The Twelve Apostles
Overnight · Port Campbell
Continue west with selected coastal stops and visit the Twelve Apostles viewing area. Stay around Port Campbell so the day does not end with a long drive back to Melbourne.
Plan around: Use signed paths and check viewpoint access. Coastal wind and weather can change plans.
Day 7 · Return without rushing
Overnight · Melbourne
Drive back to Melbourne by a practical inland route, return the car and settle in for the night. Keep the evening close to the hotel.
Plan around: This overnight separates the road trip from the next flight; do not plan a tight same-day connection.
Day 8 · Fly to the harbour city
Overnight · Sydney
Fly to Sydney, transfer to your base and leave the rest of the day light. If arrival time permits, take a gentle walk around the harbour.
Plan around: Flight timing and baggage costs are checked in the tailored proposal.
Day 9 · Harbour & The Rocks
Overnight · Sydney
Spend the morning around Circular Quay and the harbour, with an optional prebooked Opera House visit. Explore The Rocks in the afternoon and choose an unhurried dinner.
Plan around: A guided interior visit is optional and subject to availability.
Day 10 · Across the water to Manly
Overnight · Sydney
Take the ferry to Manly and spend the day between the waterfront, cafés and an easy coastal walk. Return with enough time to enjoy the city in the evening.
Plan around: Check ferry operations and local swimming conditions; water activities are optional.
Day 11 · Coastal Sydney
Overnight · Sydney
Choose a manageable section of a coastal walk around Bondi, with plenty of time for lunch. If weather is poor, substitute a museum or a neighbourhood day.
Plan around: Match the walk to your mobility and conditions; this is not a compulsory full coastal hike.
Day 12 · Space for your own discoveries
Overnight · Sydney
Revisit a favourite neighbourhood, explore gardens or choose a small cultural experience. Keep the afternoon free instead of adding another major excursion.
Plan around: This is a deliberate rest and weather-buffer day.
Day 13 · Into the mountains
Overnight · Blue Mountains
Travel to your mountain base and spend the afternoon with a nearby viewpoint or village walk. Settle into an early dinner and a quieter pace.
Plan around: Choose rail plus local transport, a driver or rental car according to the final plan.
Day 14 · Viewpoints & forest paths
Overnight · Blue Mountains
Combine accessible lookouts with one suitable walk. A longer hike is optional; a leisurely village lunch and scenic stops are equally valid.
Plan around: Check park alerts, visibility and track conditions before setting out.
Day 15 · Back to Sydney
Overnight · Sydney
Return to Sydney and overnight before the Red Centre flight. Keep the evening simple and prepare for the next region.
Plan around: Return any rental car as agreed. The flight to Uluru is not assumed to connect with this transfer.
Day 16 · Into the Red Centre
Overnight · Yulara / Uluru
Fly to the Uluru region and transfer to Yulara. Depending on arrival time and conditions, choose an easy sunset viewpoint or simply settle in.
Plan around: Schedules may require connections or a revised order. No activity is promised on a flight day.
Day 17 · Uluru with cultural context
Overnight · Yulara / Uluru
Choose a guided cultural or base-area experience and make time to understand the place beyond the photograph. Rest during the hotter part of the day.
Plan around: Respect Anangu guidance, photography restrictions and sacred areas. Uluru is not climbed.
Day 18 · Kata Tjuta
Overnight · Yulara / Uluru
Visit Kata Tjuta with a guide or suitable transport and select a walk appropriate to the temperature, access and your ability. Return for a relaxed afternoon.
Plan around: A demanding walk is optional; heat, closures or conditions can require a shorter alternative.
Day 19 · From outback to tropics
Overnight · Port Douglas
Travel by air to Cairns, with connections if required, then transfer to Port Douglas. Check in and leave the evening free.
Plan around: Allow the full day for travel; domestic flight sectors and transfer times need confirmation.
Day 20 · A slower tropical day
Overnight · Port Douglas
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, explore town and relax by the pool. Use today to confirm the best available weather window for the reef outing.
Plan around: Beach swimming is not assumed safe; follow local marine and seasonal advice.
Day 21 · Great Barrier Reef
Overnight · Port Douglas
Choose an operator-led reef outing suited to your comfort in the water. Snorkelling, introductory experiences or a dry-view option depend on the vessel and product selected.
Plan around: Weather, sea conditions and operator assessment apply. Diving is optional and requires separate checks.
Day 22 · Rest or reef weather buffer
Overnight · Port Douglas
Keep the day open for relaxation, or move the reef excursion here if conditions and availability make that preferable. Enjoy a quiet dinner rather than a packed evening.
Plan around: A buffer improves flexibility but does not guarantee a replacement departure.
Day 23 · Daintree with a local guide
Overnight · Port Douglas
Spend a day exploring rainforest landscapes on an appropriately guided outing. Let the final tour determine the combination of walks, cultural interpretation and stops.
Plan around: Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed. Follow guide advice around waterways.
Day 24 · A final day on land
Overnight · Port Douglas
Enjoy a slow breakfast, local browsing and time at the hotel. Keep this final full day on land before departure.
Plan around: If diving is added, follow the operator’s and medical guidance on the required no-fly interval.
Day 25 · Leave room for the journey home
Departure · Departure via Cairns
Transfer to Cairns for your onward flight. The international travel days themselves sit outside this itinerary.
Plan around: Leave a suitable airport and connection buffer; add an overnight if flight arrangements require it.
03 · Hotel selection strategy
Spend where it changes the stay.
Use comfortable city bases near public transport, practical coastal stays with parking and a Yulara base suited to your activities. In Port Douglas, compare a well-located apartment or hotel with a resort option. A one- or two-night luxury upgrade should improve the experience without adding a detour.
We compare the actual room category, cancellation terms, breakfast, location and total stay cost. A premium label alone is not a reason to spend more. Named properties and prices are selected after your dates, party size and priorities are known.
Budget scope: accommodation, domestic flights where applicable, rental cars and insurance, fuel, parking, transfers, selected guides and activities, meals and applicable fees. International flights are additional. There is no confirmed total price for this concept.
04 · A shorter journey
Australia in 19 days
This 19-day / 18-night version removes Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road. It keeps five opening Sydney nights, two Blue Mountains nights, one return Sydney night, three Yulara nights and seven Port Douglas nights.

| 2 | Sydney | Harbour & The Rocks |

| 5 | Sydney | Space for your own discoveries |
| 6 | Blue Mountains | Into the mountains |
| 7 | Blue Mountains | Viewpoints & forest paths |
| 8 | Sydney | Back to Sydney |
| 9 | Yulara / Uluru | Into the Red Centre |
| 10 | Yulara / Uluru | Uluru with cultural context |
| 11 | Yulara / Uluru | Kata Tjuta |
| 12 | Port Douglas | From outback to tropics |
| 13 | Port Douglas | Rest and local exploration |
| 14 | Port Douglas | Operator-led reef outing |
| 15 | Port Douglas | Weather buffer or rest |
| 16 | Port Douglas | Guided Daintree day |
| 17 | Port Douglas | Optional local outing or hotel time |
| 18 | Port Douglas | Final land-only day |
| 19 | Departure via Cairns | Transfer and onward flight |
The final row is departure with no overnight stay. The same weather, transport and activity checks apply as in the longer route.
05 · Before you go
Shape the journey around the season.
There is no single ideal season for every region in this route. Northern dry-season travel can pair well with the reef and Red Centre, while southern cities and coastal areas will be cooler. Heat, storms and local access can require a different order or activity choices. Wolfe Creek is not on this route: it belongs to a separate Kimberley journey.
Allow realistic time for transfers, rest and changing conditions. A buffer day helps flexibility but cannot guarantee a replacement tour, clear view or wildlife sighting. Flight schedules, car-hire terms and access are rechecked before a proposal is confirmed.
Make it yours: share your approximate dates, party size, budget and priorities. Caron reviews the request, agrees the scope and any planning fee, and then prepares suitable options.
